Overview

This DevOps Engineer position requires at least a DoD Top Secret clearance. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities

This position requires experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) using a pipeline to automatically take committed code, run it through tests, and optionally, deploy that code into production. A keen attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and solid knowledge base are essential. This position supports the development, testing, and deployment of an advanced Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) program under U.S. Space Force (USSF). The Automation Engineer will collaborate with a diverse program team and must be able to communicate effectively in obtaining and synthesizing requirements. This role will understand Software Automation tools and develop relationships with development partners across the EGS program supporting the following related tasks:

    Full lifecycle of software systems; including development, testing and deployment
  • Work directly with team members and Senior DevOps manager to test system integrity
  • Design, develop, test and debug new features or enhancements to existing services
  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management
  • Build and test automation tools for infrastructure as a service (IaaS) & Platform as a Service (PaaS)
  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations
  • Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improvement development delivery
  • Document and design various processes; update existing processes
  • Consult with peers for feedback during testing stages
  • Manage CI and CD tools with team
  • Automate software deployment processes by releasing incremental updates and developing automation tools.
  • Improve communication and collaboration to enable rapid product development by serving as the liaison between the development and operations teams.
  • Increase customer responsiveness and monitor application performance by anticipating and correcting operational issues before their occurrence.
  • Create more stable operating environments by continuously improving the infrastructure to be easily deployable and scalable.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of agile methodology, development processes, and programming languages.
  • Employ best industry practices
Education/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or related field required (Master's degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience with Automation (DevOps Experience is a plus)
  • Experience with Platform as a Service (PAAS)
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, database SQL (MS SQL), CI/CD tools, scripting such as Python, Perl, Ruby, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Agile workflow methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with building and managing release systems, code merging and promotion, and CI/CD workflows and tools
  • Experience with CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible in production environments
  • Experience with revision control source code repositories (Git, SVN, Mercurial, Perforce)
  • Experience working with and delivering using Agile practices
  • Monitoring experience with Splunk, Elk, Kibana, Grafana, etc
  • Previous experience with infrastructure development, or development and operations
  • Experience with development and automated testing
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work independently with geographically dispersed team
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an active Top Secret clearance.

For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is $113K- $190K. Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
