The Senior Civil Engineer will perform as a Project Engineer and Deputy Project Manager and is responsible for the coordination and implementation of roadway design elements including project management, preparation of plans and specifications, agency coordination and public involvement/outreach principally for roadway projects.

The ideal candidate will also provide geometric expertise, and have strong skills associated with Phase I and II Interchange, Roadway/Expressway Corridor and Complete Streets Design Projects.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide senior expertise on surface transportation / roadway projects.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential clients and teaming partners.

  • Participate in business development efforts with other leaders in the various transportation sectors of TYLin, focusing primarily on R+H and Bridges

  • Play a key role in the "Go/No-Go" decision making process for pursuits.

  • Provide technical support and lead design of roadway projects.

  • Implement established Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures in coordination with TYLin and agency standards.

  • Direct the preparation, tracking and submission of the deliverables for assigned projects and the delivery of those projects on-time.

  • Support Alternative Delivery projects on an as-needed basis.

  • Assist in mentoring Roads + Highways team in the areas of project delivery, technical design, change management, QAQC activities, risk management, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Illinois Professional Engineer's license required.

  • Significant engineering experience in all elements of roadway and interchange design including roadway geometrics, developing intersection and drainage designs, construction staging design, pavement marking design, landscape and erosion control design, and utility coordination and conflict resolution.

  • Thorough knowledge of IDOT and Tollway policies and procedures.

  • Thorough knowledge of Chicago Department of Transportation, MoDOT and MDOT policies and procedures preferred.

  • Must be conversant in MicroStation Open Roads

  • Demonstrated ability to develop project schedules, manage and monitor daily work tasks of staff, and coordinate the efforts of sub consultants.

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $98,000 - $175,000 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer.
