Sr Director Data and Analytics

The Senior Director, Data and Analytics, will lead the establishment of Cherokee Nation Federal Consulting's (CNFC) data and analytics delivery teams and approaches. This leader will work closely with federal client data owners and utilize their technical expertise to design and implement solutions for prioritized government use cases. This leader provides consultative-level services for senior client executives and other enterprise stakeholders to understand their data and analytics support requirements. This CNFC leader will also direct multiple agile teams in delivering solutions to meet business needs. As a people leader, the Senior Director, Data and Analytics, will develop an agile execution culture within CNFC and must ensure their teams have strong business acumen, technical skills, and an ability to understand data in the federal government and business context.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range for Sr Director Data and Analytics: Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Sr Director Data and Analytics Responsibilities Include:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with senior business stakeholders and their teams to comprehend business objectives and identify potential obstacles to achieving them.
  • Offer guidance to business stakeholders on maximizing enterprise data and analytical capabilities to facilitate fact-based decision-making and drive business value.
  • Formulate business problem statements for senior leaders, business teams, and IT, enabling cross-organizational execution of data and analytics engagements and initiatives. Collaborate closely with technology partners to establish a model that expedites time to delivery while ensuring governance for short- and medium-term data use cases.
  • Define and refine a catalog of solution types encompassing analytics, decision science, business intelligence, and reporting to meet evolving business needs. Provide executive oversight of these solution types across federated teams to ensure consistency in delivering complex solutions.
  • Contribute to shaping the enterprise data strategy by translating business insights gained from stakeholder relationships into blueprints, artifacts, and insights that articulate business requirements for data and analytics.
  • Leads the scoping of engagements and agile delivery increments to deliver business value leveraging advanced data and analytical capabilities.
  • Builds out, develops, and deploys multiple agile delivery teams that deliver business value and impact through data and analytical engagements.
  • Prioritizes resource allocation based on a deep understanding of business needs and how to drive maximum value leveraging available team capacity. Defines quantifiable benefits at a portfolio level and ensures the ongoing measurement of delivered business value.
  • Builds highly skilled, high performing teams of data and analytical resources, setting the tone for the strategic use of data as an enterprise asset.
  • Ensures teams have strong business acumen, technical skills, and an ability to understand data in business context.
  • Serves as a strategic executive presence on enterprise practitioner forums and committees to accelerate certified data usage.
  • Directs and manages staff performance and development processes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Sr Director Data and Analytics Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or other relevant technology degrees and/or experience
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience
  • 10+ years in decision science, analytics, or business intelligence
  • 10+ years leading large, complex projects
  • 10+ years influencing strategy for large organizations
  • 8+ years Agile/scrum delivery methodologies
  • 8+ years technology experience and efficiency
  • 5+ years leading IT projects (e.g., DevSecOps of digital products/SLDC, software implementation, cloud migration, big data analytics or MLOps, technology transformation, etc.)
  • 5+ years in a large consulting practice with substantive federal government business development experience
  • Expertise in developing and executing data strategies aligned with business objectives, including data governance, data management, and data architecture.
  • Strong understanding of advanced analytics techniques, such as predictive modeling, machine learning, and data mining, and their application to business problems.
  • Ability to translate data insights into actionable business recommendations, with a deep understanding of industry trends and competitive landscapes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Capacity to think strategically and develop long-term plans for leveraging data and analytics to drive business growth and competitive advantage.
  • Experience in building and managing high-performing teams, including hiring, coaching, and mentoring team members to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across different functional areas and build relationships with key stakeholders, including IT, finance, marketing, and operations.
  • Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Chief Data Officer, or VP of Data Strategy and Analytics.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
