Purpose of Position
The Assistant Director of Alumni Outreach and Communications creates and edits content for external audiences, including alumni, donors, prospects, internal stakeholders and key community partners. This position works within specific web-based systems such as Blackbaud Net Community, Raiser's Edge and Adobe Experience Manager to initiate and track engagement and fundraising efforts. This position also works closely with faculty, staff, students and administrators to highlight the NKU experience and update constituents.

Significant responsibilities include creating and editing content for electronic communications (i.e., solicitations, College/Unit newsletters, event invitations) and assists with the management of the communications calendar. This person will develop and edit copy for University Advancement webpages and serve as the primary content manager for the division.

This role will assist in the creation and production of professional-quality images and video to accompany copy and responsible for quality testing email communication to ensure optimal send times, subject lines, content, etc. using Google Analytics and Litmus. They will be directly responsible for tracking and improving open, click-through and spam rates for each send.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for building email communication and campaigns for University Advancement and other areas of the university. Work with colleges and units to identify relevant content for external audiences and managing a cohesive communication calendar that promotes engagement. Using HTML, these emails will be built within Net Community to be mobile-responsive and appear correctly on multiple email clients and screen ratios. Emails will also be quality tested for spam triggers and ADA compliance. Assist Marketing and Communications with social media content for NKU alumni channels. Work with Associate Director to maintain communications calendar and develop the communication strategies for external audience.

Responsible for writing and editing content sent to external audiences promoting the NKU experience and priorities. This includes content for the University Advancement website, electronic newsletters, departmental updates and some marketing and digital advertising efforts. Write and develop alumni stories, create and edit videos for donor stewardship and alumni engagement. Good understanding with digital marketing tools, including the Adobe Creative Suite, social media channels, writing for Search Engine Optimization and web editing tools is a plus. Proofread created and submitted content for brevity, clarity and AP style.

Assists Marketing and Communications with the Alumni social media accounts and social media ambassadors (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and Instagram) to increase reach and engagement of alumni connected to the university through online interaction.

Assist with the development, planning and promoting of events associated with Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving including the Alumni Awards Dinner and Celebration, Homecoming, Founders Day, Norse Nuptials, regional alumni events, local attraction and sporting events, affinity reunions and other special events.

Creates and tests donation pages, registration pages, acknowledgment letters, surveys.

Develop and manage a process for assessment, tracking and reporting engagement with all electronic communications to measure participation, effectiveness and relevancy.

Supports the mission, goals and objectives of the University Advancement Division.
Qualifications
Minimum bachelor's degree in computer science, visual communication design, communications, journalism, digital media and 2 to 3 years of related professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in email design platforms, HTML, CSS and related technologies and have MS Office and Adobe Products proficiency.

Knowledge of AP style and be interested in tracking and improving metrics.

Proven ability to learn quickly and an understanding and appreciation for email and social media marketing strategy.

Must be a collaborator and able to manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines.
