Role Summary:
The Director, Client Partnership position is an important leadership position at Curiosity, interacting and leading the highest levels of the client and agency organizations. As a key leader on the client partnership team, you will be responsible for the overall management of client accounts, and mentorship of the client partnership team. You must be able to lead, push boundaries and aid development of creative for both traditional and digital advertising. You must be strategic and collaborative, with a passion for creating insightful, intelligent work. You must be strong at developing and managing disciplined and efficient work processes for your teams. You must be confident, curious, strategic and empathetic. Full-time remote candidates will be considered, with preference given to those located on the East Coast or near a client headquarters.

Specific position competencies and responsibilities:

Client Relationships
  • Focuses on establishing and maintaining relationships across all levels and departments, including senior leadership
  • Gains respect of clients as a valued leader and strategic sounding board
  • Develops a deep understanding of the clients' industries, business challenges, competitive landscape and strategy
  • Leads critical client presentations
  • Develop proactive business-building ideas for client and agency
  • Issue management/resolution with clients and internal teams

Strategic Thinking
  • Guides internal and client strategic discussions and the overall strategic trajectory of the partnership
  • Leads, participates and/or reviews all client strategic work
  • Focus on delivering results to meet client objectives, tying agency effort to successful delivery of objectives
  • Regularly provides ad-hoc innovative strategic solutions and new ideas

Financial Management
  • Track record of successful and profitable account management
  • Creates or provides input to client proposals
  • Develop, support and negotiates contracts with clients
  • Responsible for revenue forecasting and oversight of profitability on accounts
  • Ultimately responsible for financial health of client accounts

Leadership
  • Strong communication and relationship with Curiosity leadership teams
  • Helps direct reports establish and maintain positive relationship with internal departments
  • Responsible for coaching, mentoring and supporting account team, successfully delivering growth and development for direct reports
  • Champion of agency process to ensure best quality of work product
  • Aids in continuous improvement of agency capabilities and processes

Project Management
  • Supervises projects, providing direction/guidance to support team, including account and project management teams
  • Fosters agency integration, tapping in to the proper teams at the right point in the lifecycle of a project
  • Provides solutions to project obstacles and client interactions
  • Advances and defends timeline and budget conversations, in support of the project management team

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • 8-12 years of marketing, advertising or branding experience, at least five of those years within an agency. Integrated agency experience is ideal.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to flex communication style based on the specific client, colleague or need
  • Excellent presentation skills, with an ability to command a room and deliver desired outcomes
  • Deep understanding of the creative process, including projects from big idea creative campaign development and production to digital-first initiatives with lower tier production budgets
  • Understands media strategy for all major digital platforms, as well as traditional media
  • Ability to effectively manage tension and difficult conversations within relationships, steeped in empathy, critical thinking and ability to deliver the best possible outcome
  • Ability to think strategically and identify critical details and opportunities that make the most difference in the vision of the work
  • Willingness to manage the fine details and have accountability for all aspects of a project/account while tending to the big picture
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others using a servant leadership mentality
  • Experience in identifying new opportunities for work and determining how the agency can best support the client objectives
