About the Role:

The Accounting Team Lead is responsible for monitoring the completion of general accounting / financial reporting activities of the Aristech manufacturing location.

Responsibilities

Monthly/Quarterly Accounting Close & Compliance Processes

    Execute entity accounting activities such as, but not limited to, general accounting closing activities in compliance with US GAAP
  • Analyze account variances and determine corrective actions if necessary.
  • Review journal entries and sign off
  • Review account reconciliations and sign off
  • Closing Entries calculated
  • Calculate the inventory E&O reserve
  • Calculate the bad debt reserve
  • Calculate the returns reserve
  • Calculate the rebate accrual
  • Assist in the execution of specific internal controls within accounting processes and other general accounting activities
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, processes and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations/deadlines
  • Manage data requests from stakeholders (internal and external) during internal and external audits (US GAAP and statutory audits)
  • Achieve deadlines set by leadership, and proactively monitor and raise instances where deadlines cannot be met in a timely manner
  • Publish monthly financial statements for Aristech
  • Publish month/YTD sales report and distribute.
  • Complete the quarterly flux analysis for Aristech

Supervisory Items

  • Manage team of 3 accountants conducting GL accounting activities for Trinseo' s Florence location (general accountant, cost accountant and A/P)
  • Monitor team workload and escalate issues to Regional Accounting Manager as necessary
  • Motivate, empower and develop team members

Miscellaneous/Other Responsibilities

  • Conduct ad-hoc tasks per management requests
  • Calculate monthly/quarterly index pricing
  • Publish the sales and margin report
  • Fulfill informational requests from Trinseo FP&A
  • Fulfill informational requests from Commercial Team and Product Management
  • Review/Monitor contracts to ensure appropriate accounting
Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance / Accounting (or local equivalent)
  • Professional accountancy Qualification such as, CPA, CFA, CMA, preferred

Minimum Experience

(years and type):

  • 5+ years' experience in a relevant finance, general and/or cost accounting role,
  • Experience managing a team

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Prior JD Edwards Experience is a plus
  • Strong enterprise business acumen, knowledge and understanding of work processes performed by Finance
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with employees, supervisors and customers
  • Strong analytical and time management skills
  • Good knowledge of concepts and procedures related to closing and reporting
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Additional language skills a plus
