As the Director of Payroll, this person will be responsible for directing all activities related to payroll. This position provides direction and leadership on all matters regarding the organization's payroll activities, including strategic and tactical planning. The Director of Payroll provides the vision, strategic planning and coordination of payroll processes and systems to manage complex challenges while championing service excellence.

Major Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency within the Payroll department
  • Oversee weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and on-demand disbursement of multi-state payroll
  • Oversee payroll for US and Canada
  • Develop strategies for continuous improvement in payroll processing
  • Oversee internal business process controls and engage with audits
  • Define success metrics for Payroll to measure success and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with other departments as needed to understand and support payroll requirements and needs in Workday
  • Participate in HR technology initiatives by assisting with business requirement gathering, business process review, project management, testing, training, documentation, development, communication and business configuration

Minimum Experience & Skills Required

  • Bachelors in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 10+ year's relevant experience in Payroll.8-10 years of payroll experience
  • 3-5 years of Workday experience
  • Multistate payroll experience
  • Canadian payroll experience
  • Knowledge of General Accounting Principles
  • Must be very detail-oriented and strive for minimal errors
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational skills, and analytical skills
  • Strong time-management and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to multi-task; attention to detail; produce accurate and timely results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office product
  • Must be able to work effectively in a diverse cross team environment
