Job Description
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Shift Timing: 8:00 am-4:30 APM

Job Description:
  • Evaluate, examine, analyze, diagnose & treat consumers, prescribe medication & perform in-depth psychotherapy & counseling (e.g., psychoanalysis, behavior modification).
  • Monitors & coordinates professional & paraprofessional medical, nursing & direct care staff in areas related to psychiatric care, reviews consumer records for accuracy & completeness; recommends improvements in hospital staffing & organization.
  • Within the scope of practice, provides psychological services to patients, residents, consumers, students &/or inmates,
    provides advice & consultation on psychological matters, (e.g., conducts psychological &/or neuropsychological evaluations/assessments, scores & interpret psychological tests, reviews pre-admission or pre-treatment data, conducts interviews & writes evaluation reports & treatment plans, evaluates treatment plans developed & quality of service rendered by others & coordinates psychological services & programs, assists with program development & researches psychological assessment & treatment) or does all of the preceding & act as lead workers over lower level psychological services staff.
  • Conducts individual & group counseling & psychotherapy (e.g., counsels on substance abuse, trauma, self-injury, suicidal ideation, grief & loss, impulse control, family issues, health issues, inter-personal issues &/or criminal behavior), follows up on treatment & writes progress reports; conducts psychological evaluations &/or court-ordered forensic evaluations (e.g., reviews of patient's current chart, past hospital records, prosecution files, court entries & indictments, interviews direct care staff, individuals, guardians, family members, attorneys &/or case managers, conducts suicide.
  • Risk assessments (e.g., participate in involuntary medication hearings; evaluate the potential for suicide; consult with psychiatrist conducts assessments, works with clients to es tallish reasons for living, and teach coping strategies); diffuses/de-escalates issues & role models positive behaviors; conducts ongoing assessments of inmates at all times to identify, prevent &/or contain any significant lethality risks amongst inmates for imminent harm to self or others; provide psychological services to offenders under Adult PA role Authority or oversight; coordinate services between institution mental health services & local community mental health service providers; completes re-entry accountability plans & conducts home visits to adult parole authority offenders with adult parole authority field officers; provides specialized sex offender therapies such as aggression control, coping with neurological disorders (e.g., ADHD) & victim empathy; provides psychological treatment to inmates in the form of psycho-educational classes (e.g., skill acquisition) & time-limited group psychotherapy (e.g., older adult male issues), participates in treatment team functions ns & provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to treatment team members; recommends policies & procedures for patient
    assessment, evaluation & treatment.
  • Evaluate defendant/patient for mental status, evaluate competence to stand trial &/or sanity at time of offense &
    writes comprehensive forensic report & recommendation for courts; responds to su begenas & app ears in co urt as
    expert witness on forensic/psychological matters; testifies in court regarding placement, guardianship, risk assessment
    &/or competency to stand trial; write s discharge summaries &/or behavioral recommendations when transitioning
    individuals out of an institution prepare statistical reports & graphs summarizing behavioral progress. programs and coordinates medical and behavioral health treatment plans for youth.
Educational Requirements:
  • Doctoral Degree.
Licensure & Certifications:
  • Ohio License .
  • BLS/CPR certification.
