Job Description

GCBHS has an immediate opening for a full-time, Home Visitor/ Family Support Specialist at our Cincinnati office in Price Hill. This field-based position establishes supportive working relationships with parents and young children, provides ongoing prevention services to families using the HFA (Healthy Families America) and Every Child Succeeds models, & delivers the Growing Great Kids (GGK) curriculum to families with children birth the three years of age. This position is part of a voluntary parenting program that provides parental support, education, & connections to community resources.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and education regarding fetal, infant and toddler development, and parenting skills using a research-based model and curriculum.
  • Develop and implement individualized and developmentally appropriate plans for each child and family that meets program standards and the family's needs. This includes assessing the family's overall strengths and needs, while making appropriate community referrals as necessary.
  • Complete assessments and screenings to aid in working with the families and identifying their strengths/needs.
  • Complete official case notes/documentation.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child & Family Studies, Human Services, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or closely related field.
  • A valid driver's license, vehicle, and insurable driving record.
  • Experience working with children and families & knowledge of infant and child development. *Community/ In home experience a plus.*
  • Ability to work in culturally diverse households and communities
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgement.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills. Must be self-motivated, proactive, and solution focused. Must be able to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and create your own schedule- utilizing flexible working hours and the possibility of working from home at times.
  • Ability to develop and maintain consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children and their parents.
  • Open to reflective practice (ie: has capacity for introspection, communicates awareness of self in relation to others, recognizes the value of supervision, etc.)
