The successful candidate will be an experienced commercial diver with familiarity performing underwater inspections, repairs, and maintenance on critical infrastructure elements. They will be responsible for conducting underwater surveys, collecting data, assisting with underwater construction projects, and inspecting and cleaning underwater structures and equipment.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Set up dive stations and perform pre-dive and post-dive checks
  • Use relevant work experience to perform and complete underwater evaluations of the condition, function, and load carrying capacity of bridges and their individual components
  • Utilize these evaluations to form the basis for recommendations on repairs, rehabilitation, or replacement
  • Take part in providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector
  • Tasks may include assistance with the design, repair, and construction of bridges, roads, tunnels, and dams
  • Generate accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project
  • Ensure that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality
  • Plan, schedule, and perform bridge inspections in accordance with the requirements of specific bridge owners and also in compliance with NBIS and AASHTO
  • Maintain diving equipment and ensure its proper functioning
  • Communicate effectively with team members during diving operations
  • Responsible for the preparation of proposals and cost estimates
  • With support from the Department Manager, perform business and client development activities
  • With support from the Department Manager, develop and manage employee staffing plans; prepare and execute the annual business plan for the specialty service group while overseeing and managing the success of the key group metrics of revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability
  • Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure that safety rules and guidelines are followed; responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices; promote pre-task planning for all projects
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 9 years of commercial diving experience related to underwater inspections, repairs, and maintenance
  • ADCI commercial diver certification
  • Proficient in diving techniques and equipment operation
  • Knowledge of underwater safety procedures and emergency protocols
  • Ability to pass a USDOT and ADCI physical
  • Ability to read plans and specifications to provide technical assistance on bridge inspections
  • Physically capable of performing field work including climbing slopes and ladders, carrying gear (up to 75 lbs.), operating small boats, and using hand and power tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Availability to travel overnight frequently depending on project specific requirements and location
  • Valid driver's license
