Position: Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Cincinnati, OH

Terracon is growing and hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our Cincinnati, Ohio office!

The successful candidate will assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of various equipment used in the field. This includes but in not limited to heavy-duty trucks and semi-tractors, mechanical and hydraulic drive drilling rigs, excavators, high pressure pumps, bulldozers, cranes, dump bodies, crawler tractors and trailers, backhoes, trailers, forklifts, and man lifts. They will possess the knowledge to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions as well as have the ability to repair these issues.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Performs electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs on a variety of transport trucks/trailers, drilling rigs, and heavy equipment
  • Performs routine maintenance checks and adjustments on equipment including fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches
  • Troubleshoots issues with diesel engines
  • Maintains service logs and records of maintenance on vehicles and motorized equipment
  • May assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques
  • Follows safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participates in pre-task planning; report any safety issues or concerns to management
  • Responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree or certificate in a heavy equipment mechanic program is preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions
  • Proficiency in the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and engines
  • Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in the repair of motorized vehicles and equipment
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history; CDL license preferred
