Job Summary

Over the last three decades, one of the most important issues facing airports is the increasing requirement to fulfill environmental regulations and permits, as well as demonstrate leadership in reducing the environmental impact of the airport. Airport operators and government agencies face a complicated matrix of environmental approval processes, regional policies and stakeholder expectations.

The Aviation Planner will provide support to project manager and/or project coordinator to fulfill client needs regarding environmental planning, assure accuracy in data used for client reports and products and present data clearly via graphical or textual tools depending on intended audience. The role will also require technical competency in developing complex NEPA analysis and documentation for Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental Assessments and categorical exclusions for airport related projects.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Complete project-related tasks as assigned by project manager/coordinator (e.g.: data analysis, data presentation, and report writing, etc.)
  • Implement established Landrum & Brown Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to standards on projects.
  • Conduct Environmental impact analysis, studies and other technical tasks as described in the summary section above.
  • Takes responsibility for any official/unofficial roles in which a special knowledge has developed (e.g.: GIS database and software maintenance, noise monitor maintenance, etc.).
  • Maintains good communication with project team and colleagues from other practices.
  • Assists in coordinating the work of interns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-5 years of related experience with preparing NEPA documents and analyses.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Urban Planning, Geographical Information Systems, Aviation Management, or similar technical degree
  • Previous Airport/Airport Consulting experience would be considered an asset
  • Air quality and noise analysis experience, following FAA standards would be considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Technical skills in any of the following: data analysis, AutoCAD, and/or GIS
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Knowledge and interest in the aviation industry and airport operations

Travel Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 11% of the year to airport clients and L&B's offices
