Job Summary:
Our mechanical engineering internship offers invaluable hands-on experience under general supervision and direction. This work will be supporting mechanical engineering staff in both ordinary and challenging design efforts for interfacing guidance systems to heavy equipment. Requires hand on mechanical aptitude as well as effective computer use and good communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Document mechanical systems in the form of solid model designs, detailed drawings or diagrams, and bills of materials
Initiate documentation release and change orders
Perform design verification testing and present findings under team direction
Participate in ongoing product improvement / cost reduction efforts as requested
Participate in the on-machine data instrumentation, collection, and analysis
Participate in ongoing design and development projects with the team, contributing well reasoned ideas
Provide satisfactory level of technical support to staff engineers
Fabricate, and install components under direction
Recommended Skills & Experience
Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering, or related technical field.
Willingness to listen and communicate effectively
Use of 3D CAD modeling packages is expected
Familiarity and experience with using common hand tools such as wrenches, ect. in working on mechanical projects similar to car maintenance.
Experience with the coding/design/installation of mechanical control systems
Preferred Skills & Experiences:
Experience in the sheetmetal and cable assembly design is a plus
Familiarity with heavy machinery and hydraulic systems is a plus
Experience specifically with PTC Creo is a plus
Experience with sensor data collection and analysis or a measurements class is a plus
