Cambridge Isotope Separations LLC (CIS) is seeking an experienced Plant Purchasing Manager to manage the company's supply of products and services in a GMP/ISO compliant organization. This position is based onsite in our Xenia, OH location. This role will be critical to building fundamental Procurement processes and driving synergies to meet Procurement strategies. The position will provide hands-on Purchasing leadership within a high-energy, customer-focused environment. The Plant Purchasing Manager's responsibilities include implementing and maintaining effective buying systems, identifying, and implementing cost improvement initiatives for both the direct and indirect spend categories, and being the focal point for developing effective vendor relationships with key vendors. This position will be a key enabler of continuous improvement initiatives at the plant.

CIS and its parent, Cambridge Isotope Laboratories (CIL) in Massachusetts, are subsidiaries of the Otsuka Pharmaceutical Group. CIL separates both 13C and 18O at its Xenia, Ohio, facility and operates the only large capacity nongovernmental Deuterium Oxide enrichment columns in the world. We globally support a broad range of customers across many high-tech industries including pharmaceutical, semiconductor, medical diagnostic, display and basic research. We are rapidly expanding, and the Ohio facility is an integral part of our growth for the future.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of responsibility for purchasing for the site
  • Develop sound, cost-effective strategies for the procurement of both products and services
  • Drive improved relationships with key suppliers
  • Lead the process to develop "Best In Class" procurement techniques for the site
  • Conduct cost analyses and sett benchmarks for improvement
  • Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages
  • Work closely with other Department Managers to achieve favorable outcomes for the business
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Key participant in the vendor approval process and vendor evaluation process
  • Reports annual cGMP/ISO vendor performance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience as a Purchasing Manager for chemical manufacturing businesses
  • APICS Certification preferred
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar certification preferred
  • Must be process oriented and follow established Procurement Policy and Contracting Policy
  • Aptitude and experience in collecting and analyzing data and driving continuous improvement / cost reduction projects
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques
  • Experienced business negotiator with strong leadership capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn current and future ERP systems
  • Must have solid interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully interact with other department managers throughout the site
