Job Description
General Summary:

Assists in maintaining the Bank-wide Model Risk Management program (MRM) aimed at ensuring models and related processes comply with internal policies and regulatory guidance, reflect best practices for their use and operations, and adhere to a strong control environment. Conducts analysis and reporting of model risks to all stakeholders.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Tests and reviews model operations/procedures for policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Assists with key processes such as inventory management, tracking observations to completion, aggregating model performance monitoring results, and facilitating the annual model reviews.
  • Advises/consults with Bank staff on model risk standards, procedures, and related requirements.
  • Assists in the production of analysis and reports aimed at communicating model risks to management and the Board.
  • Provides assistance on monitoring and governance of end-user computing tools (e.g., Excel, Stata, R) especially as related to models.
  • Performs additional duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:
 
  • Knowledge at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or economics; or equivalent work experience with governance, compliance, or audit roles.
  • 1-2 years of experience at a financial institution, rating agency, regulatory agency, or as a financial industry consultant is preferred.
 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills including working knowledge and understanding of project planning and regulated environments. 
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices, and applications in risk management governance and controls.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word).
  • Attention to detail, initiative, ability to work independently, and a strong work ethic.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, to research, create, and present reports and analyses.

Working Conditions:

Flexibility to work outside normal business hours if required to complete time sensitive projects.  Requires close attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and integrity of information supplied to senior management and members.
