Job Description

Job Summary:

The Tooling Specialist - Generator will be responsible for the inventory, restocking, maintenance and repair of the turbine and generator tool kits to support outage requirements and ensure they are presentable and meet all safety, quality, company and government requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • As the Tooling Specialist – Generator, you will:

    • Follow direction from tool center manager, cell leader and lead technician
    • Keep and maintain accurate inventory records
    • Follow work instructions, tasks and adhere to site safety, quality, company and government requirements
    • Repair and maintain all turbine and generator tools and containers and ensure they are clean and meet all safety and quality requirements
    • Perform visual, electrical, mechanical, electronic inspection of tools, report and quarantine any non-compliant items
    • Proficiently perform in depth troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance of electrical / electronic equipment and systems up to 120 KV AC & DC
    • Intelligent understanding and practical application of standard Industry & Electrical codes, regulations & practices, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, UL, etc.
    • Ability to recognize, understand risks and operate all industrial and specialized equipment safely and sufficiently, including legacy analog systems and the latest PLC systems
    • Operate Forklifts and other powered industrial equipment as needed
    • Coordinate activities and complete projects to maximize safety, quality, productivity and compliance to FieldCore policies
    • Ensure a high level of professional customer service and support
    • Safely utilize material handling equipment & techniques
    • Ensure all work is performed with an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) mindset
    • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Electrical Associate's / Technical Degree from an accredited college or university (OR a Journeyman Electrician card in industrial services OR an electrical certificate in industrial services AND a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience working in a service environment repairing 480 V electrical equipment)
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Possession of and ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to undergo background checks and tests, as needed for entry into power plants including nuclear facilities
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, including weekends, on call and possibly different hours than scheduled, as needed
  • Ability and willingness to travel ~7% of the time, internationally and domestically, as required
  • Ability and willingness to stand for long period of time
  • Ability and willingness to work in various positions, conditions & environments
  • Ability to use various computer systems and applications, Microsoft Office Suite, asset tracking systems and online applications

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience with tools used in the maintenance of power generators, turbines
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability in meeting schedule commitments
  • Process oriented mindset; self-directed
  • Strong inventory process Knowledge & experience
  • Forklift driver experience
  • Intelligent understanding of electrical and electronic circuitry, diagnostics and industrial maintenance practices
  • Proven experience with large electric motor preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience with proper installation, preventative maintenance of large pumps, fans and their control systems.
  • Intelligent understanding of PLC systems, troubleshooting, debugging and programming.
  • Intelligent understanding of analog & digital instrumentation systems.
  • Demonstrated ability with diagnostic & troubleshooting skills to repair and maintain test & industrial equipment and perform quality hand solder repair to the board or component level
  • Desired area: ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
